About Brian
Brian Kelly took a winding route to law school, beginning with an undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego in 2008 and arriving at UCLA School of Law in 2013. He left law school the same year he earned his J.D., bringing with him a mix of academic training and practical courtroom observation.
Early in his legal training he spent time in a federal courthouse. He served as an extern to the Hon. David O. Carter in the Central District of California. The placement put him inside the federal docket and exposed him to civil procedures and written judicial analysis.
After law school, Kelly moved into private practice. He joined O’Melveny & Myers in the Newport Beach office as an associate. At the firm he worked on matters typical for a large, multi-practice firm, gaining experience on complex cases that required coordinated teams and detailed legal research. The stint at O’Melveny gave him a view of large-firm litigation practice and the demands of representing corporate clients.
Kelly has remained connected to the local legal community. He is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and belongs to the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Those memberships reflect an ongoing engagement with trial practice and the business litigation bar in Southern California. He participates in local bar activities and keeps current on developments that affect civil and commercial cases in the region.
Today he practices at Klein & Wilson. That move brought him into a smaller firm environment after experience at a national firm and a federal clerkship. He handles matters that require attention to procedure and an ability to present issues clearly in court and in filings.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who prefers direct, pragmatic work over grand statements. He balances trial-minded practice with the paperwork and strategy that cases demand. His background—public court experience, a national firm association, and local bar involvement—shapes how he approaches disputes and client counseling.
He now practices at Klein & Wilson, where his work centers on business litigation and commercial disputes.
