About Christian
Christian LaForgia trained first as an engineer and later as a lawyer. He earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2002 and took his legal degree from Rutgers School of Law–Newark in 2012. The move from engineering to law set the course for a practice that sits where technology and legal rules meet.
After law school LaForgia built a practice that reflects his dual background. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and the District of Columbia, and he is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Those credentials allow him to represent clients in multiple forums and to handle matters that require both legal and technical literacy.
His technical training informs how he approaches client work. A grounding in computer engineering helps him parse technical disclosures and evaluate inventions. Registration before the USPTO gives him the procedural footing to take cases through patent prosecution and related administrative processes. Colleagues describe his work as analytical and methodical; he focuses on translating technical concepts into legal positions that can be advanced in filings and hearings.
LaForgia’s career has included roles that require close collaboration with inventors and technical teams. He has advised clients on the legal implications of product development and has prepared written materials intended for both technical and legal audiences. His ability to move between technical detail and legal argument is a recurring feature of his practice.
He practices at Banner & Witcoff, where he works on matters that involve technology, patents and other areas where engineering and law intersect. That setting gives him access to teams that handle prosecution, counseling and related disputes. He remains active in professional organizations and maintains admissions across several jurisdictions to support multistate and federal work.
He currently practices at Banner & Witcoff, handling matters that draw on his technical and legal training.
