About Cynthia Hsieh
Cynthia Hsieh Kaneshiro built her academic foundation at the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2006. She stayed in the University of California system for law school, graduating from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco with a J.D. in 2010. Those years shaped a pragmatic approach to legal problems and a readiness to work with complex, detail-driven issues.
She practices in California and is part of the team at Fenwick & West LLP. Her path to the firm followed formal legal training and early practice years that prepared her for the demands of private practice. At Fenwick, colleagues and clients find an attorney who combines analytical training from law school with a practical view of clients’ business needs.
Kaneshiro’s background in political science informs how she analyzes regulatory questions and the broader context that often accompanies corporate transactions. She approaches each matter by breaking it down to its legal essentials, translating technical points into clear advice. That method has guided her work on both routine matters and those that require more extensive planning.
In the office she balances research and drafting with client meetings. She prepares agreements, reviews regulatory implications, and assists in negotiation. Her written work reflects attention to detail and an effort to provide usable documents. She values clear communication and tries to make legal risk understandable for clients who must make business decisions under time pressure.
Outside of casework, Kaneshiro keeps up with developments in California law that affect her clients. She draws on the training she received at UC Berkeley and UC Law SF when changes in statute or regulation create new questions. Her practice at Fenwick & West LLP involves advising and representing clients on a range of corporate and commercial matters, centering on client counseling, transactional support, and regulatory analysis.
