Mr. Shapiro earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, where he graduated in 2000. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995. During his time at UC Hastings, he interned with the Environmental Enforcement Division of the United States Department of Justice, gaining valuable experience in environmental law.
Mr. Shapiro concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, trust, and probate law. He represents individuals and families in matters involving will contests, trust disputes, trust administration, contested conservatorships, guardianships, and financial elder abuse actions. His practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Shapiro has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Century City for five years.
Mr. Shapiro is an active member of the Trusts and Estates sections of the California State Bar and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Estate Planning Council and has been involved in several committees of the American Bar Association's Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section. He was awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services. In addition to his legal training and experience, Mr. Shapiro is also a licensed real estate broker.
