About Douglas K.
Douglas K. Sheff built his legal foundation at the University of Michigan, where he earned a B.A. in 1980, and then at Boston College Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1984. Those years shaped his courtroom instincts and introduced him to adversarial practice. He moved into litigation early and has spent decades in trial work.
He is senior partner at Sheff Law. Over years in practice he has handled cases in state and federal courts, and he is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for Massachusetts. That admission set the stage for a practice centered on complex personal-injury and catastrophic-injury litigation. He has tried cases and led teams on matters involving serious bodily harm and fatal injuries.
Much of his work involves traumatic brain injury cases. He chairs a Traumatic Brain Injury Task Force and is a member of the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group. Those roles involve coordinating experts, shaping litigation strategy, and advising colleagues on technical medical issues. He also chairs the Massachusetts Workplace Safety Task Force, an appointment that reflects sustained engagement with workplace-injury matters and regulatory questions.
He holds leadership roles in several bar and trial organizations. He is a fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation and serves as a trustee of the National College of Advocacy. He sits on the board of the Belli Society as a director, and he has membership in groups including the Massachusetts State Bar, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Association for Justice Board of Governors Leaders Forum, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, and the Academy of Catastrophic Injury Lawyers. Those affiliations provide a network of trial lawyers and access to ongoing professional education.
Colleagues describe him as experienced in marshaling expert testimony, managing extensive medical records, and preparing high-stakes trials. His work often involves interaction with neurologists, neuropsychologists, and occupational-safety specialists. He has a track record of supervising litigation teams through depositions, motions, and trials in state and federal venues.
He maintains an office in The Daniel Webster Suite. His current practice handles traumatic brain injury claims, catastrophic personal-injury litigation, and workplace-safety matters, representing individuals and families in complex injury cases.
