About Evan
Evan Epstein built a legal education across two continents. He earned an LL.M. in corporate governance and practice from Stanford Law School in 2005. Before that he completed a Licenciatura en Derecho, the Chilean JD-equivalent, at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in 2000, and a Bachiller en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades in 1996. The combination of U.S. and Chilean legal training shaped his approach to cross-border corporate work.
His early years in practice were spent in transactional and research roles. He trained at Allen & Overy in 2001 and worked as an associate at Morales Noguera Valdivieso & Besa in 2002. He then moved into research and operations roles, serving as a research analyst for Global Venture 100 in 2005 and as chief operating officer of the Girvan Institute of Technology in 2006. Those positions exposed him to venture finance and technology commercialization at an early stage.
Epstein’s career pivoted toward governance and academia in the 2010s. He joined an advisory board for LawLogix, a division of Hyland, in 2010. The following year he took on a professorship at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, teaching courses that connected corporate law and market practice. In 2017 he co-directed the Stanford/NVCA Venture Capital Symposium, an event that brought together investors, founders and academics to discuss trends shaping early-stage investing.
In 2017 he founded Pacifica Global Corporate Governance and took the role of managing partner. The firm provides governance advice to boards, investors and senior executives. Epstein also returned to legal education in 2020 as executive director of the Center for Business Law and as an adjunct professor at the University of California, College of the Law. Those roles reflect his interest in how rules and best practices affect corporate behavior and investor relations.
His work spans corporate governance, venture capital transactions, board advising and the intersection of law and technology. He has blended practice, research and teaching throughout his career, moving between private practice, institutional roles and academic appointments. Colleagues describe him as someone who translates governance theory into practical steps for boards and leadership teams.
Epstein maintains an office at UC Law San Francisco and runs Pacifica Global Corporate Governance. His current practice focuses on corporate governance, venture capital transactions, and advising boards and executives.
