About Gayle Gerling
Gayle Gerling Pettinga is a seasoned personal injury attorney based in Evansville, Indiana. She has been practicing law since 1987, focusing on personal injury and Social Security disability cases. As the owner and managing attorney of Gerling Law Injury Attorneys, she leads a team dedicated to advocating for clients who have suffered due to negligence or recklessness. A native of Evansville, Gayle earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 1987. During her time there, she served as the Senior Note Editor for the Indiana Law Journal Editorial Board. Prior to law school, she graduated cum laude from Smith College in 1984.
She participated in the Congressional Internship Program under Senator Albert Gore, Jr. In her practice, Gayle handles many personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, wrongful death, brain injuries, paralysis, product liability, and Social Security disability insurance claims. She is admitted to practice in Indiana, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. The U.S.
District Courts for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. Beyond her legal practice, Gayle is deeply involved in community service. She founded the Gerling Law Great Helmet Giveaway in 2006, providing free bicycle helmets to over 7,000 children in the area. She has served on the boards of Holly’s House and Gilda’s Club of Evansville, supporting victims of abuse and cancer patients, respectively. Her commitment to the community is further demonstrated through her involvement with more than 100 local organizations. Professionally, Gayle is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, where she has served on various committees.
She has also been active in the Evansville Bar Association, holding positions such as Chair of the Law Day Committee and member of the Court Action Committee. Her leadership extends to the Indianapolis Bar Association, where she was a past board member and Chair of the Women and the Law Division.
