About Kathryn
Kathryn Karam began her academic path at Trinity University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese in 2002. She stayed on an academic track that combined language and law, completing her Juris Doctor at The University of Texas School of Law in 2007. Those years provided a foundation in cross-cultural communication and legal analysis that would shape her career in immigration law.
After law school she entered private practice. In 2007 she joined FosterQuan LLP as an associate, handling matters common to a young immigration lawyer building courtroom and client experience. Five years later she moved to Greenberg Traurig LLP, where she worked as an associate in 2012. In 2013 she left firm practice to start her own practice, founding the Law Office of Kathryn Karam. The transition to running a small practice shifted her responsibilities, placing client intake, case strategy and business administration under a single roof.
Karam is licensed to practice in Texas and holds a certification in Immigration and Nationality Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2007 and also maintains membership in the Asian American Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect ongoing engagement with the professional community and continuing education in immigration matters. Her work has involved family-based petitions, employment visas, naturalization processes and removal defense, a range typical for practitioners who build steady client practices over time.
Today she practices under the name Karam Immigration Law. Her office handles individual and family immigration cases and represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and federal immigration courts. She manages both the legal strategy and the day-to-day operations of the practice. Her current practice concentrates on client representation in family immigration, employment-based matters and relief in removal proceedings.
