About Richard Hamilton
Richard Hamilton Boatwright has practiced law in Virginia for decades. He began his academic path at the University of Virginia and earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law. Those formative years set the stage for a long career in the county and state courts of Virginia.
Early in his career he joined the Prince William County legal community. He became a longtime member of the Prince William County Bar Association, a relationship that dates back to 1974. Over the years he took on leadership roles within the association, serving on its Board of Directors from 2007 to 2010 and participating on its Judicial Screening Committee during two separate terms, 2002 to 2006 and 2010 to 2014. Those committee assignments put him at the center of local judicial evaluation and selection processes.
His professional memberships extend beyond the county. He has been listed with the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association since 1995, and he holds membership in Wealth Counsel. Those affiliations reflect involvement in both trial practice and matters that intersect with estate and wealth planning. He also serves as a Commissioner in Chancery for the Prince William County Circuit Court, a current appointment that involves refereeing and making recommendations in equity and civil disputes.
Boatwright has practiced through different phases of local legal life. The record of association dates and committee service suggests steady engagement with both peers and the bench. He has worked in settings where litigation, case evaluation and judicial procedure are daily concerns. His work as a Commissioner in Chancery has required attention to factual record-building and clear written recommendations to the court.
He maintains an office at Manassas Law Group. There he handles matters that arise in Virginia courts and stays active in bar activities. Colleagues and clients see him as a seasoned member of the Prince William legal community, one who has moved between casework and bar governance over a long span of years.
He currently concentrates his practice at Manassas Law Group, handling matters across Virginia’s state courts and serving as a Commissioner in Chancery for the Prince William County Circuit Court.
