Scott C. Barnes graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2007. He entered the legal profession the same year and began practicing in Florida courts. His legal education at a large public law school came at a time when he could join litigation teams immediately after graduation.
Barnes started his career in 2007 at Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty & Proctor. He worked there as an associate, taking on responsibilities typical of a junior lawyer at a regional firm. That early phase of his career gave him exposure to firm practice and courtroom procedure in the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida.
In 2012 he became a partner at Ward & Barnes, P.A. That move marked a shift from associate duties to firm leadership and case management. As a partner he has taken on expanded responsibilities, including supervision of case teams, client counseling, and strategic planning for the matters the firm handles.
Barnes is admitted to practice in Florida and has been admitted to the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida since 2007. He is an active member of the Florida Justice Association and the Escambia-Santa Rosa County Bar Association. His memberships reflect sustained involvement in professional organizations at both the local and state level.
