About Sherrie

Sherrie Munson built her legal foundation after completing a JD at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota School of Law in 2004. Her path to law began earlier at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1990 with an emphasis on law and society. Those academic choices show an early interest in the overlap between community institutions and legal systems.

Her work life did not start in a courtroom. In 1990 she served as a department director at Womankind, Fairview Health Service, a role that placed her in program administration and community work. After law school she moved quickly into legal clinics and clerkships. She was a student law clerk at the Interprofessional Center for Counseling Legal Services in 2004 and then took on a program director and clinical case manager position at Girls and Boys Town of Southern California in 2005. A law clerk role at Chavos & Rau, APLC followed in 2008, giving her practical experience in day-to-day legal operations.

Munson opened her own practice in 2010 as the Law Office of Sherrie A. Munson, APC. That period of solo practice lasted into the next year before she joined Hughes & Hughes in 2011. She continued to rotate through firm roles over the next decade, including a stint at Jarvis, Krieger & Sullivan in 2013 and pro bono work for Laura's House in 2014. Her resume shows a mix of private practice, firm positions, and volunteer legal assistance. It is a mixture that suggests adaptability and a willingness to handle both client matters and community-oriented cases.

In 2015 Munson held associate lawyer positions at two firms: Elizabeth Nigro & Associates, APC and Meyer, Olson, Lowy & Meyers, LLP. Those roles added to her experience inside established law firms and exposed her to different firm cultures and case loads. By 2021 she was listed as a lawyer at Holstrom, Block & Parke, APLC, a position that places her squarely in California practice.

Across three decades of work, Munson’s career runs through nonprofit program leadership, clinical legal work, solo practice and firm-based associate roles. She is licensed to practice in California and has handled matters from clinic intake through courtroom appearances. She is based in California at Holstrom, Block and Parke, APLC, where she maintains her legal practice and represents clients through the firm.
