About Stephanie Melgar
Stephanie Melgar Garcia built a practical foundation long before she entered a courtroom. She studied accounting at the University of Houston and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2018. She returned to the same campus for law school and completed her Juris Doctor in 2022.
Those academic stops shape her approach. Accounting training gave her familiarity with financial documents and the mechanics of valuation and reporting. Law school added procedural knowledge and an understanding of statutory frameworks. Together they inform how she reviews cases and prepares for hearings.
After law school, Garcia established her professional base in Texas. She became involved in several local and statewide bar groups beginning in 2023, joining the Fort Bend Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, the Katy Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section. Those memberships place her in regular contact with other practitioners and offer avenues for continuing legal education.
Garcia’s legal practice centers on matters commonly handled in family law. Her training in accounting is useful when financial disclosure, asset division and support calculations are at issue. She works on case preparation, document review and negotiation, and she appears in hearings when litigation is necessary. Her practice style favors careful preparation and clear presentation of the financial aspects of a dispute.
Colleagues describe her as steady in court and precise in paper work. She approaches discovery and settlement discussions with attention to numbers as well as to the legal standards that control custody, support and property issues. That combination helps in cases where financial detail affects the outcome.
Garcia is based at Hunt Law Office, PLLC. There she handles client intake, drafts pleadings, and participates in mediation and trial work as required by each file. She maintains memberships in multiple regional bar associations as a resource for referrals and professional development. She also engages in continuing education through the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
Her practice remains anchored in Texas state courts and the professional communities she joined in 2023. She currently practices family law at Hunt Law Office, PLLC.
