About Tim
Tim Bukher began his path into law after studying economics at New York University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2006. He continued his studies at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2009. At Cardozo he pursued coursework in intellectual property and litigation, building a foundation that intersects technical legal issues and courtroom practice.
After law school, Bukher entered private practice and has developed a practice rooted in litigation and intellectual property matters. He is admitted to the New York bar and to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He also holds membership in the State Bar of New York, a professional affiliation he maintains while handling matters in state and federal forums.
Bukher’s training in economics and law informs how he frames disputes. He evaluates the business context of a claim as carefully as the legal theory behind it. That perspective is often useful in cases where commercial and technical concerns overlap, and in proceedings where economic consequences are central to the relief sought.
In the courtroom and at the negotiation table, Bukher addresses a range of contested matters. His legal education emphasized both intellectual property law and litigation strategy, and his work reflects those twin strands. He has handled contested filings in state and federal courts and has experience preparing materials for appellate review in the Second Circuit. He approaches each matter by breaking complex issues into discrete legal questions, then building arguments aimed at those points.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and attentive to the record. He frames discovery and briefing with an eye toward both current needs and potential appellate issues. Outside of casework, Bukher participates in the professional life of the bar through his State Bar of New York membership.
He practices at Thompson Bukher LLP, where he represents clients in intellectual property disputes and commercial litigation. He currently represents clients in intellectual property disputes and commercial litigation at Thompson Bukher LLP.
