About William J. Kolarik
William J. Kolarik II trained first as an accountant and then as a lawyer. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. He returned to school for a law degree, receiving his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2009. The next year he completed an LL.M. in Taxation at Georgetown University Law Center.
Those academic credentials shape the practical work he does. Kolarik holds certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the State Board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana. He combines tax education and an accounting credential to address legal questions that turn on numbers, statutes and regulatory detail.
He is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Louisiana Bar Association. He also belongs to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, reflecting ongoing ties to the accounting profession as well as the law.
Kolarik’s career has included work both inside law firms and in advisory roles. He serves as Of Counsel at Kean Miller LLP, where he brings tax training and CPA expertise to bear on client matters. His time in that role has involved advising on tax-related issues that require coordination between legal strategy and accounting treatment.
Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He often reviews statutory text, administrative guidance and underlying financial records to form legal opinions. That process aligns with his academic focus in taxation and his practical background as a CPA. He has experience translating complex tax concepts into concrete advice for clients and other lawyers in the firm.
Outside of direct client work, Kolarik participates in professional networks that connect attorneys and accountants. Membership in the ABA, the Louisiana Bar Association and the AICPA keeps him engaged with developments in both tax law and accounting practice.
He currently serves as Of Counsel at Kean Miller LLP, where his practice centers on tax law and related accounting matters.
